Rocky Patel Premium Cigars (RPPC) has begun shipping the new Tavicusa brand that was first introduced at last month\u2019s IPCPR trade show. Tavicusa is the name of Rocky\u2019s Estel\u00ed, Nicaragua-based cigar factory, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore we even had a name for it, this cigar blend was fast becoming one of my personal favorites,\u201d said Rocky Patel, president and CEO of RPPC. \u201cIt has all the spice, the strength, the character that I\u2019m looking for in a Nicaraguan cigar. So when we discussed the name for this blend, Tavicusa came to mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tavicusa celebrates the roots of Rocky\u2019s operations in Nicaragua. Beyond the factory itself, the Tavicusa cigar brand features Nicaraguan tobaccos grown in Rocky\u2019s tobacco fields used as its filler and binder. The wrapper tobacco is Mexican San Andr\u00e9s. As for his boutique factory, Rocky opened Tavicusa in the heart of Estel\u00ed in 2008, and over the last decade, that factory has produced such renowned brands as Fifteenth Anniversary, Royale, Special Edition and Sun Grown Maduro. The factory utilizes traditional Cuban rolling techniques, such as an entubado, or tubular, bunching style, and a \u201cthree-seam\u201d wrapper cap.<\/p>\n
Tavicusa will be launched (along with A L R and Liberation by Hamlet) on August 22 at a Release Party hosted by BURN by Rocky Patel in Naples, Florida. Those Nicaraguan brands will then arrive on tobacconist shelves shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n
Tavicusa will be available in three vitolas: Robusto (5 \u00bd x 50) retailing for $10.30, Toro (6 \u00bd x 52) retailing for $10.60, and Sixty (6 x 60) retailing for $11.30. All three shapes are straight-sided parejos packed in 20-count boxes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
