The blend uses a Cameroon wrapper from the Belita region, a Dominican binder as well as Nicaraguan Jalapa tobacco, Dominican Piloto and Dominican tobacco grown from regenerated vintage seeds.

General Cigar stated in a press release that, like with the CAO Mao, a proprietary process of regeneration was developed by in-house agronomists in order to be able to re-use a special variety of old-world Dominican tobacco. The company explained that this seed yields a leaf that’s different from any other tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic, it being extremely flavorful and sweet.

Alan Willner, vice president of marketing for General Cigar Company noted, “In tribute to the legendary Ramon Cifuentes who carried the Partagas brand from Cuba to the D.R., our agronomists regenerated a vintage Dominican seed that had been locked away for nearly 50 years.
